Most patchwork clothing shows you a pattern. This one shows you the pieces.
Both sleeves and the hood lining are covered edge to edge in ndiakhass — the assembled cloth of the Baye Fall, rendered here as a dense mosaic of hundreds of individual fabric squares. No two the same. That irregularity isn’t decoration; it’s the entire point of the original garment.
The Design
Sleeves and hood: full patchwork mosaic, hundreds of distinct fabric fragments in indigo, rust, gold, deep red and cobalt.
Body: black, scattered with fragments of the same colours — as though the patchwork were coming apart and settling across the fabric.
Chest: the BAYE FALL wordmark in varsity lettering, filled with the same mosaic, and the SPIRIT badge below.
The contrast is deliberate. A black body keeps it wearable; the sleeves carry the statement. You can pair this with anything plain and it works.
Why Ndiakhass
The patchwork worn by the Baye Fall began as scraps sewn together — offcuts from a tailor’s floor, worn clothing cut down, fabric donated by others.
In Senegal, where cloth quality announces social standing more clearly than almost anything else, wearing scraps was a deliberate refusal. The message: what I own tells you nothing about who I am.
It comes from Cheikh Ibra Fall, a Wolof nobleman who renounced his claim to power in 1883 and built a movement on the idea that work itself is worship.

Being Straight With You
This is a printed garment referencing a hand-assembled tradition. It isn’t a ceremonial robe stitched from real offcuts, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

Care
Machine wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle. Hang to dry or tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Do not iron directly over the print. Washing inside out keeps the all-over colours sharp.
